Laboratory

Body, movement, voice

In parallel to our stagecraft, we regularly conduct workshops for actor training and movement exploration. Through individual, pair, and group physical exercises, from warm-up to relaxation, the work focuses on stage presence in relation to the body, movement, and space. After a period of work begun in 2023 with various groups of participants, students, and citizens, at several neighborhood and community centers in Turin (Public Baths on Via Agliè, Beeozanam), the workshop now takes place over several weekly sessions, with the teaching collaboration of Francesca Tomalino (physical movement, student in the Literature degree program at the University of Turin) and Giulia Tonello (Kalari, student in the Cinema, Performing Arts, Music, and Media degree program). In the winter of 2025/2026, we also organized an intensive four-session voice seminar with Giacomo Bussi.
Currently led by Francesca Tomalino, the workshop focuses on body activation, movement refinement, and exploration of dance techniques (including floorwork and elements of circus acrobatics). The training also includes work on improvisation. The aim of this practice is to foster greater awareness of movement for the actors, experimenting with new options and intertwining multiple performance fields. A cross-cutting theme throughout the program is a focus on the concept of weight: the perception of body weight and its use in relationships with stage partners, as well as in the creation of choreography and movements. Learning how to leverage one’s own weight and that of others, and learning how to rely on others through it, thus becomes one of the ways to experience one’s own stage presence, listening, and relationships with others.

Intensive seminars
In the first two years of our activities, we were able to participate in an intensive masterclass with Sandro Lombardi (Compagnia Lombardi-Tiezzi): Reading Dante, from September 26 to 28, 2024. The experience culminated with a recital by Sandro Lombardi at the Roman Theatre of the Royal Museums of Turin on September 28, 2024 (Dante Rewritings. Sanguineti, Luzi, Giudici). From February 11 to 15, 2025, we also participated in a work week entitled Purgatory of the Poets. Choral action from Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy" with Marco Martinelli and Ermanna Montanari (Teatro delle Albe, Ravenna), at Beeozanam and at StudiumLab, with a final restitution that took place at the Fonderie Limone in Moncalieri (Teatro Stabile di Torino) on Saturday 15 February 2025. Both seminars were organized as part of the third mission activities of PRIN 2022 "Dante in contemporary times. Theatrical rewritings".
